VerbaFit vs Cronometer
Cronometer tracks a very deep set of micronutrients from a curated database. VerbaFit stores 84 USDA nutrients per food and wraps the log in an AI coach, a body scan, workouts, and a free AS program. Micronutrient depth is Cronometer's lead; the plan around the log is ours.

What Cronometer does well
Cronometer's micronutrient tracking is among the most complete in the consumer market, and its daily view compares every nutrient to a target with a single coloured bar. The diary export is plain CSV, which makes the data portable. Custom foods, recipes, and biometrics (blood pressure, glucose, ketones) are solid.
Cronometer Gold is aggressively priced for what it does, and the free tier is already useful for people who mostly want the nutrient breakdown.
What VerbaFit adds
The plan around the log. VerbaFit reads the food log together with your goals and, for AS patients, your chronic-condition flags when it builds a meal plan; the AI coach answers from your last meals, last workout, BASDAI, last injection, and recent HRV and sleep. The AS program — BASDAI, BASMI, flare log, clinician PDF, biologics directory — is free and does not exist in Cronometer.
Three ways to log: a photo analysed by GPT-4o, a barcode resolved against Open Food Facts, or a typeahead over USDA FoodData Central. A grocery list generated from your meal plan.
When to use which
Use Cronometer if micronutrient completeness is the whole point and you do not want a coach. Use VerbaFit if you want a coach and a plan, or you have AS. The two are not mutually exclusive.
